Malachite
The name Malachite is derived from the Greek word "Malakhe" which means marshamallow plant. It features a deep green color and is betroydal in formation and when cut, gives the agate-like banding or swirling pattern. This stone has a long history with the Egyptian cultures going as far back as 4000 B.C. The stone was used for many different forms of ornamental applications such as in statues and jewelry. The Egyptian women used it as eye makeup. The stone was often referred to as the Peacock Stone because of the eye like pattern it has which resembles the eye like pattern of peacock feathers.
